Ruidoso Animal Clinic Staff

 

Cynthia Thompson, Office Manager. Cynthia is originally from Dallas, Texas. She attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, and then moved to Lincoln County, NM in 1980. Cynthia has been at the Ruidoso Animal Clinic since the summer of 2004. She lives with her husband, Gordon. Her current very large pet is Henry, her mule.

Lesley Byrd, Client Relations Specialist. Lesley grew up all over New Mexico including Ruidoso. She graduated from New Mexico State University with a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies. Lesley worked for The US Forest Service and Big Brothers Big Sisters before coming to work at the Ruidoso Animal Clinic. She enjoys spending time with her husband and kiddos as well as gardening, being outdoors, and playing with her two dogs, Rusty and Phoebe.

Diana Valdez, Client Relations Specialist. Diana has been our bilingual Receptionist since September 2013. She moved from Mexico to Ruidoso when she was 11 yrs old and graduated from Ruidoso High School in 2011. After graduation, she attended New Mexico State University. Diana has Candy, a 3yr old white miniature Poodle and Fluffy, a 2yr old Guinea Pig. She loves drawing, painting, acting and hiking. Diana hopes to return to college and help provide for her family.

Carrie Wright, Client Relations Specialist. Carrie was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She has been coming to Ruidoso for over 20 years. When her husband retired from NASA, they moved here. She previously worked at an animal clinic in Texas and she is very happy to now be part of the Ruidoso Animal Clinic. She loves reading, sewing, gardening and bird watching. She feels like she has found her new home here in Ruidoso.

Whitney Holt, Veterinary Assistant. Whitney came to the Ruidoso Animal Clinic in October 2013. She has been working in the veterinary industry for 5 years. She started as a kennel assistant while attending college and graduated from Midland College with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science of Veterinary Technology in May 2011. Whitney has 3 rescued dogs and enjoys reading, traveling and learning about animals. She also enjoys family and friends. Whitney hopes to become a New Mexico Certified Registered Veterinary Technician.

Roxanne Long, Veterinary Assistant. Roxanne grew up in Navajo Nation in Gallup, NM. She attended NMSU and obtained a BS in Animal Science in 2008 and a Master's Degree in Domestic Animal Biology in 2010. Her long term goals are to obtain her veterinary technician degree and eventually go to veterinary school to get her DVM degree. Roxanne has a young daughter, and one dog, MJ. Her hobbies include: reading and visiting family.

Deedee Shalley, Veterinary Assistant. Deedee began work at the Ruidoso Animal Clinic in July 2013. Deedee grew up in Arizona and attended Scottsdale Community College where she met her husband of 25 years. She worked at the Emergency Animal Care Clinic, Animal Medical Center and Val Vista Animal Hospital in Arizona. After moving to Ruidoso in 1999, she and her husband adopted two amazing sons in 2003. Her pets include four dogs and a cat named Sport. Deedee loves animals, showing in agility classes, skiing, and watching her sons play baseball. She plans to continue enjoying life, family and friends and help people and animals when possible.

Alex Romero, Veterinary and Kennel Assistant. Alex grew up in Hood River, Oregon and moved to Ruidoso with his family in 2007. He graduated from Ruidoso High School in 2011 and attended Eastern New Mexico University, Ruidoso. Alex started at the Ruidoso Animal Clinic as a kennel assistant in August 2013 and also volunteers as a fire fighter for the Ruidoso Downs Fire Department. Outside of work Alex, enjoys weightlifting and spending time with his cat, Dude, and dog, Spike.

Kristen Krohn, Veterinary and Kennel Assistant. Kristen began as a volunteer at the Ruidoso Animal Clinic when she was in middle school and was hired as a part-time worker in 2011. She was born in Windfield, Kansas, but was raised in Ruidoso. She is home schooled and her hobbies include spending time with friends and family, photography and performing as a dancer with the Ruidoso Dance Ensemble. When she graduates high school in 2014 she plans to attend ENMU-Ruidoso and study biology to further her education and train to care for animals.

Oscar Magana, Kennel Assistant. Oscar started at Ruidoso Animal Clinic as a Kennel Assistant in April 2013. His family immigrated to California from Atengo/Jalisco, Mexico. Oscar was born in California but moved with his family to Ruidoso over 18 years ago. He graduated from Ruidoso High School in 2011. Oscar has Osa, his Rottweiler and Alaska and Mach who are Bulldogs. Oscar enjoys hiking in the mountains, gardening, drawing, horseback riding and remodeling houses. Oscar hopes to own his own ranch someday and raise animals.
